Welcome to simba

Welcome Simba

Hello and welcome to Simba. Such a cute dog.  Mum is so hot on trying to find the answers for her dog.

Poor simba has some anxiety and behaviour worries so she has a behaviourist.

80% of behaviour issues are though to be pain related so the behaviourist rightly suggested further investigation.

She was checked at the vets and cruciate tear was suspected. However, further investigation suggested it was not the cruciate.

They did a pain trial. These are great. They don’t tell you where the pain is but they do tell you if there is pain, provided you managed to pick the right pain medication that does affect that pain type.

Simba did improve on medication, suggesting there was pain. However, we were now searching for a needle in a hay stack.

It’s fair to hold your hands up and admit when you just can’t find what is wrong. We can do further tests and investigation, but it has to be fair. There is no bottomless pit of money, and equally, you can’t do endless anaesthetics, so you have to work with the best information you can find.

In human medicine, they don’t always find the route cause of problems either. I know I’ve had this told to me by consultants before sadly.

So she came for physio. I found muscle imbalance in one hind limb. There were a few other signs and some good pointers to start a working program.

I reported back to the vet so we could continue our teamwork. I also reported back to he behaviourist as they remained part of the team too!

Well done mum, you are the biggest part of the team as the team coordinator and advocate for Simba.
