Volunteers needed for annual Paws in the Park dog festival
A POPULAR family dog show held in parks around Bracknell has appealed for more volunteers and stall holders for this year’s event.
Despite budget cutbacks from Bracknell Forest Council, the annual Paws in the Park event will continue its charitable fundraising this year at Braybrooke Recreation Ground after business Animal Physiotherapy Ltd stepped in to organise it.
Last year’s event at South Hill Park saw 2,000 visitors attend to enjoy the dog shows and stalls on offer but this year’s show still needs the support of more volunteers or more items to add to the free giveaway goody bags.
Donna Wills from Animal Physiotherapy said: “The show has always been a fun event for dog-related businesses to let visitors know about themselves; owners to maybe pick up a bargain, and learn about new things available to them; and for families to watch displays and see how amazing dogs can be.
“On a more serious note, it has also been an opportunity for dog owners to meet their local veterinary practice and ask any questions they may have.
“Children can also learn to be confident and happy around dogs and learn to respect them.”
Traditionally the show has moved around the borough giving dog owners the opportunity to explore different parks, prior to this it has been held in Lily Hill Park, Westmorland Park and Savernake Park.
The council still support the show and it remains non-profit thanks to the 19 organisations sponsoring it so far, including Bracknell estate agents Duncan Yeardley.
Anyone who would like a stall or more information on how to be involved contact Donna at [email protected] This year Paws in the Park will take place on Saturday, August 20, between 11am and 3pm at Braybrooke Recreation Ground with free entry and free parking.
