Welcome to Merlot
Hello and welcome to Merlot.
Great name for a lovely dog. Super nervous little bean though.
Merlot has been referred because he has been suffering fore limb lameness for a number of weeks. He has actually been through the mill and back quite a few times. He has had stifle surgery and has serious gastric issues so pain medication is difficult to give. He also has spondylosis and elbow dysplasia and the hips are an issue.
But actually he is coping incredibly well! But at 11y, he is now starting to struggle a bit and needs some help.
So due to nerves, we had to go gently and build a good relationship with this patient. So we did our exam and treatment and sent him home with a regime that included a more managable walk stratagy and a few muscle building excercises. Although the fore limb lameness is a focus, it seems like there is so much going on, that we need to work on all the problems as this will in turn relieve the fore issue.
Merlot coped very well and we look forward to seeing him again soon.
Keep up the good work mum and Merlot!
