Welcome Trigger
Hello and welcome to Trigger! Such a cute jack Russel.
This poor little bean has suffered legg perths disease. Its not too common but I have treated several over the years.
Sadly there is a reduced blood supply to the head of the femur, the hip bone. This causes small fractures and its super painful.
There isn’t much that can be done to save the bone so the dying head of the bone is removed. This is a femoral head and neck excision.
Physio is then essential to rebuild muscle. Maintain the flexibility in the new pseudojoint and reduce pain.
Trigger has done really well. His family stuck to the plan and he’s recovered. Sadly he may need the other hip doing too, but so far he is doing great and we are keeping a watch out for any signs on the otherside.
Well done family and team Trigger!
